For decades, ideological feminists such as those at the National Organization for Women and the Institute for Women's Policy Research have been enraged by their belief that females are oppressed because of our “sexist, patriarchal society.” Their rage has been based on their enduring claim that this oppression manifests itself in three ways:
1. Women are remunerated less than men for the same work.
2. Women suffer from poorer health than men.
3. Women endure more violence than men, domestic and general.
Feminists' rage over these oppressions has been fueled by the mainstream media's generally unflinching help in reporting on the oppressions.
This rage may now become more fueled than ever before. But it's not because feminists are discovering women's oppressions to be worse or more numerous than thought. And it's not because the mainstream media are ratcheting up their reporting on women's oppressions. Rather, it's because some flagship outlets of the mainstream media appear to be bringing their help to ideological feminists to an end. In fact, they may be trending toward an actual reversal of feminists' belief that women are oppressed: increasingly they are reporting that “our sexist, patriarchal society” affects women no more adversely than it does men and sometimes less.
Consider the following reports that address the three "oppressions":
To address “Women are remunerated less than men for the same work:
The New York Times: Exploiting the Gender Gap
MSNBC: Secret lives of breadwinner wives
Forbes Magazine: Are Women Earning More Than Men?
PBS Television: Women Control 51% of Wealth
Philadelphia Inquirer: Women's Job Choices
To address “Women suffer from poorer health than men.”
The New York Times: Health Disparities Persist for Men, and Doctors Ask Why
Parade Magazine: Men continue to be vulnerable to heart disease
The New York Times: The Weaker Sex Part I
The New York Times: The Weaker Sex Part II
To address “Women endure more violence than men, domestic and general.”
Boston Globe: Feminist Dogma on Partner Abuse
Fox News: 'Take Back the Night' For Men
ABC News: Turning the Tables
Fox News: Segregating Children From Men
Gallup Poll: Women Feel Safer Than Men
BBC News: More than half of surveyed women said they approve of wives hitting husbands
Associated Press: Young Women More Violent
Chicago Tribune: The Truth About Rape Stats
After reading these items, you may agree: Feminist groups such as the National Organization for Women and the Institute for Women's Policy Research (see “Response To Feminist Group” [doc]) may soon start to disband because of increasing irrelevancy and embarrassment.
(This is a Male Matters item that I recommend you send to editors and columnists.)
What can I say, except that for decades something did not feel right about
the claims made by feminists.
I think there is a similar effect in the UK media. Also it appears that
some feminists and their lackies are getting more aggressive and illogical
in there pronouncements because they see the agenda slipping away from them
and therefore throw academic wobblies. Poor bints. The 'guy in the street'
is getting more aware of the issues. Still the media esp. the BBC are
hopelessly pro feminist. I am trying to get my local swimming pool to face
up to their pathetic women only sessions.
most of these parasits which I have contacct with, saying :" feminists
should fight still for this andthat...".
I always told them and saying it now:
Our fight is going to started, till now we only gave and gave and gave all
they asked. They show themself enough after 50 years of crimes.
Now the vocies are starting from streets, and we will see how they will
handl their lies and crimes.

Cannot say I have noticed media not supporting feminists in UK. We have not
got television; we have got femmyvision, all action female heroes making
men look stupid; all newspapers providing bitching platforms for females.
ladies and Gentlemen,
Hi Piers Birnbeck, can't say I disagree with you about the UK's hysterical
femmyvision, though maybe we could call it fannyvision !
Some people in the MRM think that feminism is on its way out. Don't be too
quick to say feminism is diminishing. It lives, evolves, digs into society
like a worm, a virus. It has distorted our laws, subborned the legal and
ploitical professions, education, the media, even our language. If no woman
claimed to be a feminist for the next 50 years we would still be left with
all the males and children suffering oppression and broken families.
