We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.” More... If the story holds true, Tiger Woods can thank his lucky stars that, after his wife scratched his face, he didn't return the favor. Otherwise, his career would be over and he — not she — would be labeled the abuser in their home. (More...) Just as happened to in the Chris Brown v. Rihanna case.

Here's why Brown is the mea culpa artist that he is: “Men are usually raised with the idea that hitting girls is a major no-no. Unfortunately, there are some cruel women who use this aspect of a man’s personality to gain power over him. In the minds of some women, it’s perfectly acceptable to slap a boyfriend across the face when he says something to piss her off. Knowing that he would never hit her back, this type of woman feels like she can inflict any kind physical pain on him without fear of repercussion. You likely won't hear this medical news at ABC/CBS/NBC evening news: “Women have a better survival rate than men in early stage lung cancers, regardless of treatment or even lack of treatment. The findings, from a nearly 10-year review of Medicare records, were presented at the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians.” When it comes to women's health, the network evening news brigade seems to report only bad news — which helps maintain women's status as disadvantaged or victimized. Another serious men's health issue ignored by the evening news and most of the liberal media: “A study in the Oct.1 issue of the journal Sleep shows that elderly women sleep better than elderly men even though women consistently report that their sleep is shorter and poorer. Women reported less and poorer sleep than men on all of the subjective measures, including a 13.2 minute shorter total sleep time (TST), 10.1 minute longer sleep onset latency (SOL), and a 4.2 percent lower sleep efficiency. When sleep was measured objectively, however, women slept 16 minutes longer than men, had a 1.2 percent higher sleep efficiency, and had less fragmented sleep. Multivariate regression analysis showed that these discrepancies were partly explained by determinants of sleep duration such as sleep medication use and alcohol consumption.” More...

“Last month the unemployment rate climbed above 10% for the first time in more than a quarter century. Less noticed is that male workers crossed this same threshold six months earlier. Since the U.S. became the world's dominant economic power, no downturn has fallen more disproportionately on one gender.” More...

And another example of male power, this time in the UK: “MENS Society becomes official Union society: 'The MENS society must stay focused on addressing the social construct of gender and men’s health rather than a misperceived lack of men’s rights if it is to avoid hindering women’s liberation and women’s rights campaigns.' That says it all: it seems that female privilege will be threatened by male equality [so men must capitulate].” More...

When it comes to drawing attention to health, here's a significant difference between men and women: “...[W]hen the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended that regular screening mammography not start until age 50, all hell broke loose.” Compare that to “When it was recommended that regular prostate exams not start until age 50, a deafening lack of response broke out.” The latter is Male Matters' supposition based on men's history of general silence when male health is ignored or discounted.

An example of violence by women not being taken seriously by the courts: “A wife who cried rape because she felt guilty about cheating on her husband in their home was spared jail yesterday. Helen Dalby went to extraordinary lengths to stand by her false claim, having a full medical examination and even helping create an e-fit of her imaginary attacker. But despite wasting £3,800 of public money and showing little regard for two men arrested, she was given a ten-month suspended jail sentence after admitting perverting the course of justice.” More...
