According to the November/December 2003 Women's Freedom Network (WFN) newsletter, the Gallup Poll conducted its annual "National Survey of Minority Rights and Relations." (Access to Gallup requires paid subscription.) It surveyed by phone 1,385 adults aged 18 and older. Of interest to me is this item as reported in the WFN newsletter:
How satisfied are you with the following aspect of your life:
Aspect Men Women
Safety from
physical harm
and violence 60% 63%
Isn't it odd that those who feel the most satisfied with this aspect of their life are women? Think about it. What have the mainstream media and ideological feminists done for the last 30 years if not inundate us with how dangerous society is for females? Violence against women has been given such thunderous attention, made out to be such an enormity, that a few years ago Congress passed a Violence Against Women Act. Judging by the daily tidal wave of reports on brutality against females -- as I point out in "Cable TV's Crime Shows Love White Female Homicide Victims" -- you'd think no more than about 5 percent of the women in any survey would report feeling safe.
So what's going on? Are women paying no attention to the news? No, they are of course paying attention. I think the answer is that the average woman is smart enough to recognize feminist-driven hype when she hears it. Despite the relentless sensationalizing about violence against women, women nevertheless sense that they are safer than men, as the bonafide government statistics confirm. (Search for "violence" in An Open Letter to Gender Feminists.)
The group most at risk of harm is black males. If Congress weren't as politically correct and fearful of ideological feminists as most other institutions are, it would have passed, if anything, a Violence Against Black Men Act. But Congress, like these feminists and the mainstream media, will make sure this never happens and will make sure black men never get the attention they deserve regarding gender violence or any other gender issue. [For the record, I am a white man who believes that as bad as things are gender-wise for white men, they are worse for black men, in many cases much worse. While reading "An Open Letter to Gender Feminists," search for "black men."]
